Pielgrzymki szlachty polskiej do miejsc świętych w XVII i XVIII wieku(streszczenie) W wiekach XVII i XVIII szlachta polska i litewska chętnie wyruszała w podróże. W przypadku podróży zagranicznych o charakterze religijnym największym zainteresowaniem cieszyły się wyprawy do Ziemi Świętej, grobu św. Jakuba Starszego w Santiago de Compostela i do Rzymu. W ich trakcie odwiedzano sanktuaria przechowujące relikwie świętych oraz sławne z cudów za sprawą Matki Boskiej lub świętych na terenie dzisiejszych Czech, Austrii, Bawarii czy północnych Włoch. Started on 17th August 1977 the Opole Walking Pilgrimage to Jasna Góra was a result of many centuries oftradition of dévotion to Our Lady ofCzęstochowa in the Opole region. After érection ofthe apostolic administration ofthe Opole Silesia in 1945 and Opole diocese 27 years later preparing the whole-diocese pilgrimage was impossible because oftwo factors: political context ofthe PPL and reluctance of bishop Franciszek Jop to provoke the government unfavourable towards the Church. The article address the problem of limiting the rights of Protestants and other non-Catholic Christian denominations during the reigns of two kings from the Wettin dynasty - King Augustus II (1697-1733). The process started as early as the second half of the 17th century, but it was fully accomplished in the years 1717-1736. In the article the author discussed the resolutions of the sejms and other legal acts introduced at that time, the aim of which was to eliminate dissenters from public life. The Polish monarchs were inert towards the process. It was the rulers of non - Catholic European states (Prussia, Russia and Great Britain) that helped Protestants an Orthodox Christans in Poland

The fonds of National Library of Russia include a Register of Brotherhood of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Polotsk. Besides the list of members, the manuscript includes a number of documents important for operation of the congregation. The Brotherhood operated in 1794-1818; it was run by Jesuits, who survived disbanding of the order in 1773. Membership list of the Brotherhood (approx. 11 thousand) shows a crosssection of Polish community, living mostly in territories captured by Russia after First Partition of Poland. It includes members of local elite, as well as the lowest social tiers. Russians, Germans, French and Italians also joined the Brotherhood. An important group of members …
